Flowsign vs Adobe Acrobat Sign: a New Zealand alternative

2 minutes read

Adobe Acrobat Sign is the signing side of Adobe's Acrobat range. Flowsign is a document signing platform built and supported in New Zealand.

Both send agreements for signature and return a signed record. Here is how they differ.

In a nutshell

  • Dynamic documents. Edit Word documents right in Flowsign, with wording that adapts to each send.
  • Focus. Acrobat Sign is part of Adobe's PDF range. Flowsign is built around signing.
  • Pricing. Acrobat Sign charges per seat or per transaction. Flowsign charges per package.
  • Local. Flowsign is built and supported in New Zealand.

Dynamic documents

A dynamic document is a Word document you edit right in Flowsign. The sender answers a few questions at send, and the wording adapts to those answers.

  • Clauses appear only when they apply.
  • Alternative wording swaps in for each answer.
  • Names, dates and amounts fill in from merge fields.

One template replaces a folder of near-identical Word files. Our guide to templates, workflows and dynamic documents shows how it works.

Pricing

Acrobat Sign is sold per seat on Acrobat Standard and Pro, and by transaction on Acrobat Sign Solutions. Annual plans renew automatically.

Flowsign prices per package. A package is one send, however many documents, pages or signers it holds.

  • Your first 3 packages are free.
  • Extra packages cost $2.20 each excluding GST, on every plan.
  • Business has no limit on users.

See pricing for the plans.

Packages and workflows

A package puts several documents and recipients into one send. People sign in the order you set, and the result is sealed into one tamper-evident record.

  • Templates with roles and merge fields, on every plan.
  • Conditional fields, reminders and scheduled sending, on Solo and above.
  • Bulk send and custom branding, on Business and above.
  • Workflows, on Business and Enterprise.
  • Dynamic documents with wording that adapts to each send, on Enterprise.

In Acrobat Sign, features like custom send workflows and hybrid signing order sit in Acrobat Sign Solutions. Its Send in Bulk maps to bulk send, and library templates become Flowsign templates.

Switching from Adobe Acrobat Sign

Adobe does not guarantee it keeps your agreements once a licence ends, so export before you cancel. Moving across takes four steps:

  1. Download your signed agreements and audit reports.
  2. Gather the source files behind your library templates, since field definitions do not export.
  3. Rebuild your templates in Flowsign, import your contacts and invite your team.
  4. Send new work from Flowsign.

Our Adobe Acrobat Sign switching guide walks through each one.
